A perfect summation of the '96 Kalimantan Camel Trophy in one picture. Team communication and physical endurance. Goodnight!

The last picture is not of the Camel Trophy but I believe of one of the Range Rovers on the Trans-Darién Expedition. Non the less some amazing feats.

The most interesting one I find is the 1989 0r 90 one, where the going was so slow (something like a couple of hundred feet A DAY)that they had to air lift supplies in. One man went mad and with a machete started shouting convinced people were trying to poison him. He had to be air lifted out after being sedated by the expeditions doctor.
If you have 91 minutes spare and want to get your Land Rover fix, heres a good one for you.

Damn, you're right. That's what you get for stealing a photo shamelessly from Google image search without enlarging it and actually looking at it in detail. 'Tis a great shot of what these things (and their drivers) are capable of, though.

I used to have a model of one the Darien Gap Range Rovers when I was younger and they stuck with me.
Land Rover does these sort of things quite often. For the fiftieth anniversary of Land Rover they did the Fifty/50 Challenge which was to raise £50,000 for Unicef by visiting 50 countries in 50 days. In the end they visited 56 countries in 50 days reaching 50 of them in 45 days and raised £130,000 in the process. They did it in three Land Rover Freelanders and a Defender 110 painted gold nick named 'Goldilocks'.
When launching the Discovery Series II in New York, rather than putting two pre-production Discoverys on a plane or ship they chose to drive them, drive them around the world that is.
Some interesting reading I've just found while looking for some images to put up.

You've got to check out this page from team-bhp.com on Land Rover history. So much great information in one place on one page.
